Turn Off Your Office Computer from Home! No, you don’t have to ask Johnny from maintenance to do it for you

I know this happens at least once to you. You had a very busy day at work, but alas, your shift is up and you can finally go home to rest in your soft, four post bed. You’re finally home, took a warm, relaxing shower, and slipped into your favorite PJ about to hit the sack when … suddenly that sinking feeling. Did you turnoff your computer before rushing to that elevator door earlier?

Whew! Now your entire hard-thought ad concept you’re going to sell to your boss the next morning is out for grabs by your idea-hungry colleagues. And you know you can’t trust your cubicle neighbor, Mike, right? What will you do? Would you rush back to your office in your PJ, or would you open your laptop and turn off your office PC remotely from home. Can you really do that? With TweetMyPC, yes you can.

You can now turn off any Windows run machine remotely using an open application: TweetMyPC. In order to do this, you need to install the open application on the machine that you want to remotely control. Then you need to associate your Twitter account to TweetMyPC so that turning your computer will just be as easy as sending a Tweet to it. (Twitter, is there anything else it can’t do?)

To turnoff a computer using TweetMyPC, just update your Twitter account with the word “Shutdown” and the computer on the receiving end would take the command and shuts down itself. Cool, huh. You could remotely execute a whole bunch of other commands to any PC with TweetMyPC such as hibernate, standby, lock, kill + the process ID, and even screenshot. The rest are pretty self explanatory, but what about screenshot?

Screenshot is a command you can remotely execute to make the receiving computer send its real time screenshot to you. How cool is that … not to mention very useful too! There are also a bunch of other ways you can remotely send the commands like via email, IM, and even SMS.

Now you don’t have to worry about making it to your office before Mike gets his hands on your office computer keyboard. You have beaten him in a flash with TweetMyPC. Now go ahead and take your well deserved beauty sleep.
